We are a non-profit team dedicated to the safe and efficient recovery of lost or missing persons. Our team is comprised of dedicated and highly trained canines, field support personnel, dog handlers, incident command and operations officers. Wisconsin K9 SOS Search and Rescue (WI K9 SOS) was founded in 2005 by 6 experienced SAR professionals with 35 years combined experience in the field of search & rescue. Since the team’s inception, it has grown to approximately 12 members and includes people from all backgrounds including volunteer firefighters, teachers, legal professionals, retired naval officer, computer specialists as well as a Ph.D. research scientist. All of our members receive training in map and compass, GPS, computer mapping programs, scent theory, missing person behavior, search strategy, incident command, crime scene preservation, report writing, CPR, first aid and many other search and rescue-related topics. Many members are NIMS-compliant having completed ICS- 100, 200, 700, and 800; most members also have obtained their SARTech III or II certification. Through NASAR (National Association for Search and Rescue).
